What's the going rate for live rock these days?

These days, if a person shuts down a tank and wants to sell the rock first, what's a good price to ask per pound?

When I sell its mostly to get rid of it I usually sell at 1 buck per lb but average seems to be 3-4 bucks in this region

Do you find it moves quickly at $1 per lb? That was sort of the ballpark I was thinking of but am concerned it will still take a long time to sell it all.

My motivation is to shut a tank down but keep some of the livestock to go in a smaller tank. I can't even begin to think about catching some of these fish until the rock is out. So I'm wrestling with the thought of piecemealing it out as it sells and having to wait that process out, or maybe just take it all out, put it in a kiddie pool or something and then I can sell it independently of the other activities.

My next challenge is I don't even have a good idea how much there is. So I guess I'll have to weigh each piece as it comes out.

When I do sell rock which isn't often it goes fast because I sell for so cheap and I don't really weigh the rock I'll ball park it just because I want it gone and regardless of whether it's live or dead rock it's same price and believe me some people who are selling their rock have sent me some very unkind messages about selling so cheap their problem not mine.

If it's nice clean rock with good shapes and without pests or nutrients then $4/lb is a great price.

If it has soft corals all over it or Aiptasia or lots of nutrients, then $2/lb may be fair.

The problem is you have to find someone that remembers/knows the value of good live rock. Nowadays, good live rock from a vendor is around $10/lb. You can buy the cheap crap live rock for $5-6/lb, but it's not very nice.
