Default 36 x 36 x 36 cube with a twist

Well, some of you know I have a 700G reef tank, well now I am at it again...
I had a new "vision" tell me what you guys think please.

I have an open concept living room with a large 12ft ceiling, and a large south facing window that lets a tonne of light into the room.

I don't have a green thumb at all, but I love the look of a mangrove.

I picture this:

The new tank on a very low stand (like 18" tall stand) with an open top, with the mangrove (artificial) "growing" out of the tank. I am contemplating going with no supplemental light, only indirect light from outside, but we'll see about how that looks and might add some LED lighting

Here is the wall, I think I'd center the tank on the wall and remove the chair

Here is the tank (picked it up yesterday) - is 36 x 36 x 36 cube

Here is what I have found for a tree (picture its roots inside the tank and the foliage standing about 4ft round above the tank so the top of the tree would be about 9' tall from the floor)

In the tank, I am thinking of going potbelly seahorses and bangii cardinals

Thoughts or comments?

Great idea, love something different, only thing I would be cautious of is the fake plant, they normally have wire inside to help hold the shape. Why not grow a real mangrove?

What more details do you want - is 36 x 36 x 37 tall, is not drilled at this point (but is acrylic so I can do it myself when I decide exactly how high the water should be and how I can best hide the plumbing (going for the super clean look)

The walls of the tank are all 1" acrylic, and the top and bottom are 1 1/4"

Weights a small amount compared to my first tank (700G acrylic)

Mark

PS - as for why not a "real" mangrove...you search and see if you can find one (I could not find any mangrove bigger than about 18" tall) and as I said I don't have a green thumb, and lastly even if I thought I could I was concerned that the roots would eventually put too much pressure on the seams of the tank...

Sorry, forgot that I am new around here, and assume that a lot of people check this forum and the other forum (the mostly Ontario one) so know me from there

Not sure if I am allowed to post links to the build on there or RC, just search for mark0933's 720G - here is the finished product...and my "assistant"

Real mangroves would be nice, but you'd be looking at at least 10 years before they grow to a nice size for that tank. Maybe you could import some but that might prove difficult you can only get the pods easily in Canada.

This is going to be a really neat tank! Maybe you should use real mangroves as the filtration to go along with the fake structure. 10 years down the road you might be able to take the fake ones out

good call on the "both" factor.. if you are worried about the roots breaking the seams you could grow some at different stages of growth and remove as needed. but then you may have to cut roots to seperate the mangroves.

Ohh and if you are worried about not being able to link pics from the other site maybe you could copy and paste the whole thread here?
