Default Asm G!x

I recently set up an asm g1x and I'm finding that it is doing a poor job skimming. It's sitting in sump with 8" of water. My CSS with the needlewheel mod would make a nice thick skimmate but I'm just getting a thin wet skim from this unit. I know theres a break in period and I've changed the height of the output... Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

How high is the water level in the skimmer? Is this a brand new skimmer or a used unit? Has the pump/venturi ever been cleaned? How much skimmate is this unit pulling out in terms of volume (i.e. how often do you empty the cup)? There's nothing wrong with wet skimming really and I find most EuroReefs and similar style skimmers tend to wet skim more than, say, beckett style skimmers.
