Default Skimmer suggestion.

So my POS Superskimmer finally bit the dust so im looking for a replacement... im broke right now so the cheaper the better looking at spending 250-400. It will be going on a 75gal with a 30 gal sump (possibly upgrading to 60gal sump)

I have been looking at some skimmers from octopus(150nw) or (extreme 160)/vertex (100 or 180) / bubble magus (150)

Anyone have any suggestions or experiance... I tried sifing through the threads on RC but there was just too much haah my brain is fried with all this studying.

Are any of these available locally, and if so are the prices comparable to online?

Thanks

I have a MSX Extreme 200 that I am extremely happy with. I think the Octopus Extreme is also the same. They are actually made by Salt Water Connections which is either in Edmonton or Calgary. They have a website you can look at. I highly recommend them.

Googled them, you are correct, Winnipeg. Yeah Canadian company! Great Skimmer! I love mine, pulls out tonnes of stuff. Tried some other well-known brands but this one really performs. Mesh-modded, maybe that is why, but the design and build are excellent.

the sicci pumps are crap i bought 2 from there and they were crap seized up and you had to boost it to get it going. the shafts break and wear out the inner housing. dont waste your money IME.

Ive read this too... it had something to do with plastic edges not being completly sanded down and has since been corrected.

Does anyone know if the extreme 200 is sold anywhere in calgary? or do i have to order online?

Not sure how they compare but I ran an ASM G-4 on my 230g for a year and I was very happy with it.
