Default Part Time Skimming?

I put an old school Lee CCS in my fuge a couple days ago. The tank is in the bedroom and the airpump is annoying me at night. I was thinking about putting it on a timer so it only skims during the day. Will only skimming 14-16 hours per day cause any problems with the tank, will it be of any benefit? Does anyone know about how to set this thing for maximum benefits? I have no instructions.
The skimmate it produces at the moment is thin watery green tea looking stuff.

TIA
Brad

Thats about all the lee's will produce. As long as you are doing regular water changes running the skimmer part time should be ok. I'd think about getting a better skimmer though. I was running a lee's, and now a SS65. What a difference in skimate. this stuff is almost black!

Looks like nice stuff out of the ss65. Not much in the tank a few SPS frags, couple of sun coral polyps, few snails, and a cleaner shrimp, fed every couple days. Just playing around with the skimmer, regular water changes Saturday's. Learning about skimmers. When I find a better option I will upgrade, little space available and noise is a major factor on this tank. Thanks for the input Starry.
