Default Vertex IN 180 vs Cadlights TIA-1150

My Vertex IN-180 pump is dumping a bunch of stray voltage into the tank. It is probably about 3 years old. It may be older as I bought it used.

So my choices are to buy a new pump and impeller (which I guess I should do anyway). This would cost about $125 or so.

OR

Buy a Cadlights TIA-1150.

I would basically be saving $95 if I didn't buy the new skimmer.

I have a 90 gallon display with light to medium stocking level. I feed conservatively. I have a 75 gallon sump.

Thoughts?

Thanks.
