Default WTB Big Pump

If anyone has an ampmaster or something that will pump up stairs for 2 180g tanks, let me know I will be in the market this month or next.

I have a few ampmasters on my systems and although they are not a bad pump, in my opinion the 3000 just is not enough pump.

I recently purchased a couple of the 1hp Dolphin that are a little loud but very happy with the performance.

HTH.

I would worry about internal tank circulation before looking for a huge, hot, expensive running return pump.

But I need something more than I have now to return up stairs, 15+ feet. I will use T4 pumps on closed loops for circulation. These will be the only pumps upstairs by the tank since they are silent. I will take the one T4 I have now and get 2-3 more. I can't have any pump sounds in my Home Theater room.

I will use my MAK4 on my Chiller and keep my Iwaki 55RLT on the skimmer. All the loud pump will be in the garage or under the stairs in the closet.

I got the plans for my house from the city today. I need an Eng. to help me beef up my floor for these 2 tanks.

Default mag 36 or Pondmaster 3600

Check out the specs on this monster pump www.pondmaster.com
I got on on Ebay for 130 US including shipping. Ordering it locally they are asking 400 cdn which is still not too bad compared to the ampmasters and other big brand names.
thanks for the info on the OD NO.

mak 5`s wont do much after 15 feet for 2-180 gal tanks.

If your in the area, i have an old 3/4 horse self priming jacuzzi pump that will get the job done, yours for $100.

Just not interested in shipping.

you can get rebuilt hot tub pumps for about 180.00 Lee, the one I got is a 1.5hp model for that price.

is the basement under the tanks unfinnished?

My experience with a 2x1.5" overflows is I can only get about 500g each on my current tank and keep them quite. I don't have an over flow box now and these 180s from J&L have the hole drilled too far from the corners to make boxes without loosing too much room.

So I'm thinking if I have 2 pumps with about 500g each @ head, I would be ok. I didn't know they made a MAK5, I like my MAK4 and noise will not be a problem since the pumps will be in the garage.

I have been thinking about real big pumps (hot tubs and such), but not sure if that would be overkill.

Marc if your not in a hury, I plan to visit Van some time in the next month. That might be the cheap option.

Steve,

The whole hose is finished with drywall, I can even find an opening to look and the beams. I'll post some more pictures on my other post with down stairs info.
