Default Posphate/ phosphorus

So I got a Hanna checker ultra low phosphorous checker and it came out with 14ppb or .014ppm now is this good? I believe this may be due to my hair algea using it all or could I have done the test wrong?0

Everything I have read on the subject says to keep it under 0.03 so if thats the case then your 0.014 is looking pretty good. I know many people strive for 0.00 , but as you said phosphates can be locked up in algae in the tank as well as chaeto. So to know exactly what the true reading is pretty hard.

You need to convert phosphorous to phosphate.

Conversion is 14x3.066÷1000=0.043 po4

Thanks for that info! Did not know that. I figured the ultra low would be more accurate

Yea it's way more accurate if you google the checker or phosphate ppb conversion and click images I think there is a little table you and print out cheat sheet for the conversions
