Default RBTA GALORE - $10 EA

Really good deals on RBTA from small single ones perfect for NANO tanks or Colonies that have many on one Rock, perfect for a centerpiece. These RBTAs are constantly splitting and taking up room in my tank. No reasonable offer refused.
Best way to get a hold of me is my cell. I am near Downtown Langley.

Cell - 6046149118 ask for Bob.

Happy Reefing Everyone.
Thanks for taking a look!

Hi All,
It's amazing how these RBTAs keep splitting. For those of you who have got some from me in the past, please give me an update as to whether they are splitting for you as well. I started with one and now I have over 100 and they keep splitting. I would like to know what influences them, is it environment mostly, or lighting, chemical balance of the water or a variety of factors. \
Let me know!

Happy Reeffing!
Bob

One thing that makes them split is stress. When A bubble tip feels like its in danger it splits to ensure at least part of it lives. I had my heater break and my tank dropped a few degrees, they all split. I moved the rock they were on into a new flow area, they all split so I did some reading and sure enough its a way of ensuring survival, make more of yourself.

Not the only reason for sure but a big one.

I picked one up from you a few months back. It was less than an inch when I got it and it just split a few days ago. It was only about 2.5 inches when it split. My water parameters aren't great but it's stable. Haven't changed any equipment either.

It hasn't moved since the first day I placed it. It's always bubbled up and doesn't appear to be stressed. I was definitely surprised it split so soon.

Interesting comments. When I started the hobby about 5 years ago it was not common to hear of aquarium RBTAs splitting that much. I have had other types of RBTA that never split including long tentacles.
Please keep the insight coming....any marine biologist out there! LOL

Think its super common now. RBTA's just what 2 years ago were at least $80 and now they range from $10-$20 due to supply.

That's a good point. There definitely has been a surge in aquarium born RBTAs, which is good for the hobby, however, the larger ones still seem to originate from the ocean reefs.

Happy Reefing!

If there aren't any environmental factors inducing them to split,
Then I'd say you just happen to have a strain that is genetically predisposed to splitting.

I've kept RBTAs for years, and have not had mine split to that degree.

I'm quite certain I still have my original "mother" from 10+yrs ago.
How large do they expand? Mature cloned from my RBTA can easily get 8-10" diameter. They don't stay small, and typically don't split until atleast 6" diameter.

The tank full of them, especially all bubbled up looks pretty spectacular! Looks great!

Back in the day, that would have been a cash cow.

Here's some questions for you...
How big is your system?
Aside from the RBTAs what comprises your bioload?
Skimmer?
What is your water change routine, how often, and how much?
(I think this may point us to some answers)
