Default Water vacuum

What does everyone use for a water vacuum? I have one that attaches to the tap and it clogs when cleaning the sump within a minute. I need to clean out my overflows as well, full of crap. We are going away and I'd like to get a good water change done before we go. I didn't have this issue on the smaller tank as it was sump less, the crap got picked up in the canister and skimmer.

I use a piece if tube. It goes from in the tank a few inches to a bucket. If I pay attention and keep it in the middle of the tank and scare away inquisitive clown fish, it doesn't clog.

All the detritus etc can just stay wherever it settles. It keeps the clean up crew alive. In a year and a half I cleaned out the skimmer section of my sump once.
