+1 to the fact that it's hard for humans to grasp the concept of infinity.

I never used to think much of the stars. Then I had to take an astrology course in college and found out that what we see could really be gone. (the ammount of time it takes for the light from the star/planet to travel to our eyes...LIGHT YEARS). It's alot more complex, but basically, when you look up, there's a good chance that the stars you are seeing are already burned out. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

I doubt science can tell us anything about infinity

I think our society should decide that the world will end in 4044. Let's go with April 1st of that year. Um, let's say the planets will all collide, and maybe a star or two will burn out close to our solar system...Anything else we could add? We could call it the Canreef Prediction...

Let the teens of 4040 start their freak out - LOL

Ive studied Mayan culture intensely throughout my schooling and they were spot on with a lot of things, but every culture has an 'end of the world'. Its the inability of humans to wrap their heads around the concept of infinity, or forever. The vastness of time and space is so hard for me to grasp. So things must come to an end for us eventually. But even if humans are removed (which will be a blessing on this earth!) life will continue, in some form or another.
Large Hadron collider? Don't worry they broke it.

Higgs boson my a**

Thats the problem with the bloody scientists ...always making sh*t up and people believe them.

The world will not end simply because human beings disappear from it. The world did just fine for millions of years before we showed up and will do just fine without us, even better perhaps.

The whole 2012 thing will probably become the latest armageddon 'fad' when the hype & marketing surrounding Roland Emmerich's movie '2012' gets underway later this year.

It's an interesting looking movie staring John Cussack, with quite a few of the VFX shots done at Bridge Studios in Burnaby, BC.

2012 Movie Link
