Default Chowders Fluval Edge

I decided to build a small tank on my desk at work. I wanted something I could put a few softies in and a small frog fish. I started the tank on Sunday. So far I have 5 pounds of sand and 4 pounds of rock in it. For flow I am running a 240GPH Koralia pump and the return flow from the hang on filter which came with the tank. I upgraded the lights to MR16 Leds . I had change out the original MR11 sockets from the hood and put in the MR16 sockets in. It was fairly easy to do. 6 screws and and a little rewiring. I ended up proping the light arm a little to get a better spread out of the lights. The MR16 Bulbs I ended up using were the Philips EnduraLED 7W Cool White bulbs that run at 4000K. Not a true Cool White as they still have a slite yellow tint to them. Believe the bulbs run at 310 lumen each. I also got some leds strip light from a local internet seller for atinics. I built a small hood for them out of acrylic . I got a blue strip and a purple one. Not to sure how this tank will do but thought I would try one out. I plan to keep mostly Zoa/Palys and some Rodactis,Ricordia and yuma mushrooms. I don't have my camera here but will try and post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Well here atre some shots of the tank. I have already changed some of the rock since the picturs were taken. I have also added 3 Nassarius snails and 5 hermit crabs.

Tank with no lights

Tank with just LED blue and purple on.

Tank with just the MR16 LEDS

Tank with both lights on.

I'm not getting enough blue out of this set up so I am going to add more blue LEDS inside the cap. Hopefully it will mellow out some of the yellow out of the MR16's.

I've also decided to put a Antennatus tuberosus or Tuberculated frogfish. They are considered a Dwarf frogfish .I will be getting one from Hawaii .

http://www.frogfish.ch/species-arten...tuberosus.html

Believe they max out between 7 to 9 cm or around 3".

cool bro, frogfish change their colors dependent on their surroundings so make sure you fill the tank with bright macros and shrroms if you want it to stay "pretty"

another thing the Haters will arrive and tell you the tank is too small, as long as you stay constant on your weekly water changes and are dilligent with your perameters he'll be just fine, remember a few years back people thoguht the idea of a nan/pico reef was impossible........anything works as long as you care for it properly

I will definetly post more pictures after I decide how the rock work goes and I get the lighting a little more to my liking. It will be hard to not fill this tank with corals to quickly as I already have alot put aside for it in my tank at home.

Ya I'm pretty sure I will be getting the hatters on this one. I do not plan though in putting any other fish in it because I believe the oxygen to water ratio will not allow multiple fish. Also the frogfish would most likely eat whatever fish was with it. I do also plan on doing weekly water changes mostly because there is no real filtration on this sytem other then the tiny filter that comes with the tank. Also not running a sump or skimmer.
