Default Monster skimmer thingy

So I'd like to introduce you to the ugliest filter on earthSkimmer /biofilter.Ran it for 1 hour and produces dry skimmate from a 20 gal bug tankIn the weeks to come I'm rebuilding it totally out of clear acrylic before I put it on the main DT Try not to laugh to hard ,but it works dammit!

Very cool, and it's not ugly at all.

Functionality totally supersedes aesthetics

Mebbe it's fugly but it makes mean foam. More info pls. What are you using to drive the thing? Wooden air diffuser? I've been using a diy wooden air diffuser counter current skimmer for a few years now. I like it fine & it does the job.

Yep two 4 inch airstones 18 inchs down the water column. The inlet water is spun to create a vortex for the heavier detritis which collects at the bottom for easy cleaning.Return water is passing through Aragonite crushed coral large enough not to restrict flow.the whole thing is back washable with minimal interuption.when the clear one is built you'll see the process better.
