Default What came first, the Cat, or the Chicken ...

If you’re a cat lover, you’re going to like the pictures that follow
If you like stories about found animals, you’re going to find this very amusing
Read through the whole story if you want to hear about a chicken

A number of years ago, maybe 5 or 6, a young cat came up to one of the glass doors where my wife, Donna, works.
All she saw was a cute cat mouthing and squinting a heart breaking ‘meow’ though the glass.
She opened the door, and in wandered a very pretty, although wet, grey, silver and tan male tabby.
Well, I received a call at home that Saturday afternoon, asking me what I thought we should do. You see, we had recently lost our grey tabby to a car, and Donna told me, “He looks just like Weasel” This broke my heart and, obviously, I couldn’t let her leave him there.
After trying to find a Shelter that Saturday afternoon, I told Donna to bring him home…

OMG, this little guy is sooo cute, and cuddly, and, and …

I DO NOT want another cat. We’ve been through too much heartbreak already with the loss of our 3 cats over the last decade, so we NEED to find a home for this one.

Well, long story short, we took this one to the SPCA with the hope that his owner would find him and thought that was the end of that.

I couldn’t leave it be … I had to know if the little guy was OK.
I called the SPCA a few weeks later to check his status.
No one has claimed him, and now he has a cold.

You can see why I became attached to the little bugger. He laid all over me the first night Donna brought him home

I started to worry that he wouldn’t get better living in a shelter cage, so I told the wife, “That’s it, he’s coming home!”
Luckily, Donna’s mom, Rose, had heard all of this and decided to adopt ‘Smokie’
Whew

So, fast-forward to this Summer.
Donna has another kitten coming up to her in the park where she works. She feeds him treats and he starts to come right to her every time they see one another.
I knew this was going to be an issue with Winter coming so, with a big sigh, I asked Donna to catch him last month and bring him inside.
Donna talked to her mom about this new kitten, this time with parts intact albeit very skinny.
It took a few weeks of slipping in little stories about the new kitty, how cute he is, how he only comes to Donna, how he’s going to starve in the park over Winter …

Kitty, come here. Come on inside buddy and eat some of this. Get in this box with the towel.
Over to Rose’s house we go …
Open the box and holy banshee all over the house, on the counters, on the windowsills, zoom zoom zoom.

Sorry I don't have any more pics to add here.
I'll add some when I get a chance to go to the Mom-in-laws house

Well, now momma Rosie isn’t so sure she wants another cat!!! And I don’t blame her!!!

A week later, Rose is calling Donna to come and collect the cat as it's wreaking havoc in her house.
So, we ignored her requests to remove the cat as we knew he would grow on her.
Before we knew it, Rose had named him Casey.

You wouldn't believe how much Casey has grown in the last month or so. He's gained all kinds of weight and loves living in doors (go figure)
Apparently he's already reached 14lbs !!! and is a total suck-a@@
I haven't been over to my mother-in-laws house recently, but I will get pics as I hear Casey has put on a lot of weight, and Smokey has lost some !!!

More fast-forwarding;
Smokie and ‘Casey’ get along wonderfully, Smokie is losing weight with all the extra middle-of-the-night chasing each other, and Casey has had his noogies removed and been given all his shots, courtesy of our favorite clinic (Atlas), and Donna’s cash.

So, here’s the funny part;
Donna works very close to Rose’s home.
I get a call at home from Donna …
“You’ll never guess what just showed up at work” …
“Oh, crap, not Casey”
“Umm, no”
“Not another kitten!!!” (there was another feral kitten there, but it’s disappeared )
“Nope, it’s a ….”
