Default Return pump died o the joys of reefing..

Well my return pump died 2 days ago and it been a fun go, frist of all a huge shout out to RAY at reefsupplies for covering the warranty and helping me with that aspect so
My new pump won't be here till Monday or Tuesday at best

I got all my heaters and my controller probe in the display right now and so far have been manually topping it up but my question is

Can I use my tunze ato directly in the main display or will the waves from the voetech mess it up?

Is there anything I can do to save the GFO/carbon in the reactor I just replaced or is it toast

Thanks I didnt realize how this was the most annoying pieace of a equipment to break but so far the fish haven't realized and corals are looking still pretty good

not sure what you mean by placing it directly in the tank and the waves messing it up. If you're just dumping water for an ATO into your DT, it doesn't matter. Just as long as it's not submerged under water without a check valve or a siphon break.

The GFO and carbon should be fine. I would rinse it off. Depending on how long it's been in the reactor, maybe it wouldn't hurt to change it anyways?

When you're dealing with large tanks, it's always best to have a spare of everything available! I've got spare returns, pumps, heaters, lights, tanks, reactors, filters, skimmers, even damage control premixed saltwater, and a drum of rodi water.

Because hey, these guys are not only our hobby, our pride and joy, but we also need to protect our investment! Have a backup plan in place. Write it down as if it were an emergency manual. Because most of the time it's not if it happens, it's when it happens.

Good luck!

If you mean the float switch for the ato, yea, it might make the water level a little high. Shouldnt matter a whole lot if you have room in the sump for the bit of extra water.
