Default Cloudy Water

Every other day I add 1 gallon of water to replace the water that has evaportated and my water always seems to go cloudy for a few hours. I use a hose from a bucket of water but it still gets cloudy.

Any suggestions...should I turn my powerheads off?

Are you adding RO or treated tapwater for top up? Is the cloudiness due to sand being stirred up?

I don't think I would not turn off the powerheads, which aid in mixing the top up water with the tank water.

BTW, Welcome to Canreef

I am using treated tap water, I let it sit over night usally and I add it slowly so nothing is getting stirred up.

Using RO water is better in a tank than treated tapwater for many reasons. But if tapwater is all you can afford for now, my suggestion would be to aerate and heat the treated water to tank temps to see if that makes a difference.

You post awfully late Beverly, haha.

Anyway, WALKMAN, are you adding any additives at the same time as top off?

Default water

Try dripping the top-up in over several hours and watch...see if it is a ppt reaction or just physical disturbance.
