Default Chillers, are they high maintenance?

Who runs a chiller? I'm guessing they are not just plug and play.

I used to run an Artica 1/3 hp (very good chiller, high end). Nothing to maintain, but expensive to buy and run, and generates lots of heat and noise. Plus takes a bunch of room. Now I have my own DIY chiller,... cheap, silent, and only uses 4.8 watts for about 3 hours a day (during our recent warm spell). And doesn't take any extra room outside my sump.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

Pretty much plug and play.

Always have. My current chiller is a big 1/2hp, so plumbed outside, but I've run 1/4hp for years. You have the garage, so not a huge concern for heat coming off.

Would be nice to get that heat out of the garage though. Otherwise it's a constant cycle of heat being reabsorbed into the tanks.

I didn't find that in my last house, but running it in my condo was a bit warm. For Rick, maybe he needs heat in the garage
