I have bought things at both RP Electronics in Burnaby http://www.rpelectronics.com/ and at Main Electronics in Vancouver http://www.mainelectronics.com/
The things I have bought pertain to fixing and building audio amps but I have found everything I needed locally at these two stores.

http://www.e-sonic.ca, i think you use the same site but if you are in canada you pay canadian dollar and product ships from canada, but i think the company is canadian

I use digikey never had a problem $8 and if you spend over $200 free shipping! 1 to 2 day delivery
