Default What kind of (FW) fish is this?

Can anyone ID this guy for me?

Was thinking maybe a rainbow of some kind but I thought they had a different shape?

AKA. "Indian Flasher Barb"
AKA. "Roseline Shark"

It is a barb. Pretty common/good tank-mate for tetras and stuff and a community fish. its one of the less aggressive barbs. Also pricier. Active, colourful, schoolers. Pretty cool fish actually!

New fish of yours?

A barb! Cool, thanks!!

Saw them at Georgia Aquarium in with clown loaches. Not a new fish for me (not "yet" anyhow, haha. I want some now though! I have to fix up my FW setup first though, it's kind of a hair algae disaster at the moment.)

They do like to live in groups...however 2 do NOT do well in a tank...too much picking on each other......beautiful fish though!

I have tried groups of 5 & 6 of this barb and always end up with one. Others seem to have luck in groups but in my 125g they would fight, I have 1 large now and he is beautiful.

Found a whole bunch today on my LFS tripping. But didn't buy any. My FW tank needs a workover before I put any new fish in there. I might pick up a few after that which gives me time to save up for them. Wow, you guys aren't kidding when you said they're pricey.

How much are they over in Calgary? A vendor on BC Aquaria (pm me for name) can get them in regularly for around $12 each.

Cheers,
Vic
