Default How to attach xenia

So I got a pulsinf xenia frag yesterday and was told how to stab the stalk with a toothpick and to strap it onto a rock with elastics and just let it attach itself. However this morning it had split up the stalk and dropped the toothpick and is now floating around the tank.... any idea's of what to try next?

it'll probably catch on a rock at some point and anchor itself and spread all on it's own. Soon you'll have Xenia all over the place

I just tied mine with a nylon string. Tight enough that it doesnt float away but loos enough that it doesn't cut through the flesh. It doesn't take too long for xenias to attach themsleves to the rock.

Elastic bands work good too.

Don't worry. I'll be attached everywhere in no time.

That was my thought.

You can use fishing line, it works pretty good or coral glue. Dont tie it too tight. If you can keep it isolated do it, as you will find that it will grow pretty fast and become a pest very quickly. If you see pieces floating around after the mother is attached, remove them or get them on a frag plug ASAP.

The inside of a toilet bowl is the best place for it to attach though JMO

yup thats what ive always done ,elastic it on to a small piece of rubble and then if you like you can epoxy the rubble anywhere on the rock you like

all the same i find just pushing it into a hole in the rock works best within a day it should attach its self

All you have to do is wish like hell that you could get rid of it and it'll attach everywhere!

haha well I just ended up sticking a large ring ontop of it to weigh it down and put it over a bunch of coral crush. The stuff is so hard to handle it covers itself in so much jelly!
