how i've done stands in the past is i attach a small block of wood ( on both sides of the supports) that screwed through to the back side of the skin this then either has a bolt and tnut fed through from the space between the skin and block. the length of bolt depends on how heavy of tubing the stand is built with and the thickness of a tie block that bridges across the support, the tie block is then tightened against the stand with nuts on either bolt. i would post a pic of it but my tank is 7 hours away. ive also used that metal strap all in a similar manner i just used screws instead of blots and tnuts.

i have my stand set back in a nook so i bought baseboard to match the house and attatched it to the bottom of the stand along the floor. For the panels i bought high strength velcrow. I set the front panels on the baseboard to take the weight of the panel and the velcrow is up top to keep the panel from falling off. quick, cheap and easy to take on and off and took all of 10 minutes.. now just to cut the panels
