I received a quote on shipping 6 heaters from Dr. foster and smith this morning.

Has anyone else ordered from the US?

It's not usually the shipping cost, but the brokerage and customs charges, they give it to you hard. What kind of heaters are they? Can you not find them in canada? Or are they just that much cheaper?

Premium Aquatics will ship USPS so the shipping cost is minimal compared to UPS and there is only a $5 brokerage fee.

Thanx WWWD
Premium Aquatics quote for shipping is less then 1/2.
$50.20 USP 2 to 3 week's
or
$50.83 UPS 3 to 5 day's

Anyone have experience with UPS's brokerage fees?
I know either UPS or Fed-Ex has outrageous fees I just cant remember which.

is it that much cheaper getting it from the states. there are some good online stores in canada, that way you know exactly how much everything will be.

Do you know anyone in the States that could mail it to you? If you buy from an American business, they're obligated to ship it as merchandise, whereas if someone mails it to you personally, they can indicate that it's a "gift" and you won't end up paying any import tax/brokerage/etc. fees.

For the record I have found a dealer in Canada thats carrying what I want.
I just figured this was a discussion worth having for future reference.
