Default flow rate & PVC question.

Does anyone off hand know the flow rates of 1" PVC being gavity fed by an 8" head of water? My PS4 pumps have a 1" hose barb for both suction and discharge and due to a minor mishap involving my butterfingers and a pipe wrench I need to get a new sump. I'm wondering if a 1" line would be enough to keep the pump happy, or if I should stick with my current 1.5" lines which are reduced down to 1" at the pump. If you can help a noob out I'm be happier then a pig in poo, and I'll even buy you a pop of your choice if you're ever in town.

Its always a good idea to oversize your return. if something gets stuck in it you dont have to worry about it being too small. there is no down side to having a pipe thats too big, except a very minor price advantage on small PVC at the store.

If you looking for a bulkhead size in your sump to feed your pump should be okay with the same inlet size of you pump (just don't reduce). It's not really a gravity feed since under suction so the 1" can flow more the the 600gph.

If your talking sizing a drain on your display to match the output flow at head from your pump that's different. These two links might be helpful; RC Headloss (use Velocity T4) and RC drain size.
