I know exactly what you are talking about with the spending more on gas then parts... I just did my plumbing... go to the first place they have something that kinda works but isn't perfect so you go to the next 3 places that have worse or nothing so you go back to the first place and they are closed... so you start over the next day after work. It took me a week just to get all my parts...

Ok.... so I think... THINK... I have all my plumbing... I made two more trips back to Rona as I "discovered" more required parts.

Yes the gas. Ouch.

But... after laying everything in sequence... I think I have it all... and more.

I am using multple unions to make it easy to replace things like check valves and old ball valves as necessary. So maybe more unions than needed but what the heck.

Tomorrow I do some dry fitting and pipe cutting.

I wonder... does anyone care enough to read signatures if you make them really small? I would not. I would probably moan and complain, read three words and swear once or twice. But since you made it this far, please rate my builds.

Default Oerflow and Plumbing

Well I received my overflow box today. Bob offered to build one for me and it turned out amazing! Thanks Bob... you saved me one head ache of attempting this myself.

Plumbing is almost done. Too tired to deal with pics for the day so hopefully tomorrow I can post some pics of my progress.

Thanks again to Bob, Jason and those who have helped out in my build so far!

It is going slower than I wanted it to, but it is going well.

Default Water day!

Well I am adding water... its almost full. I need to add about 30 more gallons and I will see if my plumbing holds.

Sorry no pics in last bit... can't find the cable for my camera.

All said and done... things looks good. If all my plumbing is good... I will look to add rocks asap!

Default Check valves

Well I dont like the check valves I bought. Very noisy. I bought wrong ones with stainless spring inside and they rattle all to hell.

I guess there is a rookie mistake.

I am going to replace them. I saw loc line check valves for return lines. Anyone used these before?

$12/each through the reef shoppe. I may get these as easy to replace and just remove the inline ones and replace with pipe.

Asides from the noise.... no leaks (so far) and system is running.

Default getting there

well water is mixed and running through the system.

I will be changing out the check valves in about a week as I ordered new ones from bulk reef supply (true union check valve).

I also ordered a tank heater as I was not finding what I wanted for a reasonable "used" price. I ordered the Finnex HMO series titanium heater. I wanted durable and least likely to break. So will try it out and see how it goes.

i am also pretty much ready for rocks. Trying to get my hands on some but things are busy.

I still need a light and some power heads but things are looking good as they are. I will try find cable for my camera and post current pics soon!

Default Rocks and Lights

Well I am going to pick up some rock today.... not sure on amount... depends on pieces available. Hopefully 30 pounds or so.

Might have a light. MIGHT. I was messaged third party about a TEK light - 6 bulb. Waiting on more details tomorrow.

Things are coming together. Tank is running but not "running" if you know what I mean.
