Bah! A Golf? I still hear "blah blah blah not a VW".
In all fairness though, I hear you. I've owned 6 water-cooled veedubs. Two were the worst cars I've ever owned (although when working when the funnest damn cars ever, one was a GTI, and one was a Passat). Two were the best cars I ever owned (another Passat, which died horribly in a head-on highway collision in BC that amazed all witnesses that anyone walked away from, so it died with honour at least) and another GTI which died horribly after being stolen. But since I thought this was a sort of "toy car" thread I was just sorta disappointed to see no mention of vintage 'dubs like Beetles or my personal favourite, Karmann Ghia ragtops. If I had the garage space and if I didn't already waste all my cash on reefing I'd have one or a couple of these ... However I do sort of find the hobbies to be mutually exclusive. I spend FAR too much on the tanks to have a car affliction as well. Kudos to all you guys and gals who've found a way to do both...

I should have figured you for a 'dub guy Tony.. you have that "look"
so you don't have anything vintage right now? I'd love a bus down the road but I don't really have the time nor money to keep one on the road at this stage in my life.

All I know is if I didn't have a fish tank I'd be driving a Challenger SRT right now

Alas Greg, no, no vintage right now (no VW's for that matter even). My dream project is a '71 KG though. Although a nice split screen bus with pop top would be a lot of fun too, except the problem of having it blow away in the wind if I try to take it out to Canmore or something.
Steve: I hear ya, I hear ya...

You ever go to the clubveedub site? I don't really post there but I lurk a lot. I was looking to buy a beetle last fall but then the whole economy started taking the downward spiral. I think I might be able to find a deal this spring though... my other thought is Mk1/Mk2 GTI if I could find one in good shape.

+1 I've been trying to get one for two months now, every dealer I talk to wants 10k over sticker for a six speed, dirty crooks.
