If I didn't have a eurobrace I'd hate them a little less. My tongs curve a bit but that damn bracing prevents me from getting the drop on a bunch that are under overhangs. Had to commit and get my whole arm in there for a few and I just hate touching the water even if it's just my hands.

So with the warm weather we finally had last week my fans weren't able to hold the tank at 80. As soon as I saw 81 on the Ranco I started looking for a chiller. Last summer I only had one halide and I had applied a film on my main floor windows that lowered the inside temp a few degrees. The condo board wanted the film off since the windows look like foil outside and now i have 2x250w. I have a window AC unit I run in the summer but I still wanted peace of mind so I found a Pacific Coast CL-650 thanks to Brad (Abcha0s) and a mag 12 to feed it courtesy of Keith (24storm). Thanks guys for the very generous deals!

Now I had bought a drop in coil unit a few days earlier but it turned out to not work. Check out this super rad stand I built or the failed unit ABOVE my ballast. This chiller had about 6 feet of incredibly stiff flex/coiled piping that I spent 2 hours feeding through the wall (which has a much prettier hole in the drywall now lol).

Here is my rad ghetto stand for the new inline chiller. I wanted to keep it looking like my handiwork in the stairs themselves and I think I succeeded. All about using up my scrap wood haha.

And here is the thing setup and running. I have it running off my Ranco (chiller set to 75 and so when the Ranco detects 80F it powers the unit which of course will run because the water going through it is not 75. It took about 12min to pull down 1F. WIN. I get a bit more heat down here in my unfinished office too =)

I thought I'd show you guys a pic of the braided hose I used as well for fun. It's there on the floor if you look close:

I always knew your hose was nice Brett. When did you add the skin? Did you do it yourself? One side good ply? Looks hot!

Are you looking at a different pic? The hose man...it's on the floor?

Oh wait I see now... yeah the stand is sorta skinned =)

Just one-side good 1/2" like my current tank. It's cheap and it works. I had the poor kid at Rona do like 20 cuts from 3 sheets for me! I don't have a garage anymore and can't fit an 8x4 anything into my basement so he and I will be friends for the build lol. The stand is currently in the 'attack with wood-filler' phase and is becoming pretty smooth at the seams. I haven't touched it in a week or so since work got too busy to breathe. My plan is to maybe spray this one in the same white/cream colour for a smoother finish than I have upstairs.
