my vote is pocci.

they can be quite prolific due to poylp bailouts growing out randomly all over your tank.

whatever it is, cool to see anyhow!

I think it's poci too. It is starting to encrust the ceramic frag plug so I guess time will tell for sure.

Cheers,
Tim

Default It's a Poci

Hi Everyone,

Well the mystery coral that suddenly appeared on a Koralia pump last year has proven to be a Pocillopora, most likely damicornis.

Here are the shots all in a row.
Taken on May 23rd 2013

Cheers,
Tim

I had over 60 new colonies of pocci growing out in my tank from my mother colony spawning. Kill it now!!

Wow it's really nice.

I've never had a Poci do that. Never, ever, ever. I quite frankly wouldn't mind one that spread on its own like that in my tank. I figure if it showed up where I didn't want it I'd ... I'd .. actually I have no idea what I would do, because the concept is so foreign I cannot imagine.

I suppose the closest I can come to seeing something similar is the red planet in my tank. Growing in several places and absolutely steamrolls anything in its path.

So far I've been able to manage relocating a few neighbour corals or pruning it back without learning to hate it. Actually I kind of like it because it gives the rock a more reefscape look to it rather than corals placed onto a rock.

+1 Porites. I have something similar except it's green with a blue fringe.
