Default Need help with old pump

Yes I am still alive and kicking... well not kicking as much as random leg twitches.. But that aside...
I have a Quite one 6000 with a broken shaft.
I have been trying to find a replacement with no luck.
Can anybody out there help me with this?
Or maybe a cheep replacement pump.
It is for my mom's tank that I have finally gotten 90% complete.
Just need a but of plumbing and the return pump!!

Any body???

Default Qo 6000

Hey there,
Last year I broke the ceramic shaft on my quiet one pump and had no luck in finding a replacement. This was my back up pump so I put it on my to do list and on the shelf it went. A few months ago I got to thinking that all the shaft does is align the impeller in the housing so why could you not use a stainless steel rod the same width and length? I found two lengths of stainless welding rod the proper width but have not tried to see if this works. May be others can chime in?

Cheers!

Geoff

I was thinking of a carbine Fiber one myself. I think you should be able to get them from any hobby store.
