Default yeek! and I put my hand in there

While doing some aquascaping this morning I noticed a couple of pieces of rubble wedged into one of the larger base rocks pieces I have, and wondering how that could have happened I noticed ... something moving ... so I took the rock out and washed it through with the outflow from the return pump out of the sump ... imagine my surprise when this thing popped out ... now I know where some of the fish disappeared over the past month ... it is approx. 2-3/4 inches across ...

That is one scary looking crab.

We have a big black on in our system that we could never get out unless we tear our frag racks apart. He hasn't caused any problems "yet".

that's the same crab that was eating my devil's hand coral and 2 other fish that went missing...after that i knew there was a culprit in the tank so i had to tear down the rocks to find it.

yeah ... now I need to decide what to do with it, if anyone has a species tank or if it would be safe (for me!) to put it into the sump ...

Would be safe to put in the sump or the refugium but if you have nothing in your sump it will starve anyway unless you over feed and have food flow down to your sump. I had to put the axe to my culprit.

Had a similar problem with a demented emerald crab! That shiesty bastard ate 3 outta 4 masked gobies! At nite! Caught him in the act one nite and quickly "steam" cleaned the situation!

I recently found one in my rock as well. I have yet to be able to get him. Same situation he must have been there for months. Can't wait to get him out.
