LTA anenome acting strange? Help appreciated
So I got this LTA yesterday and the store had it for 3 months with no problems. Yesterday it was half open when I put it in the tank (placed him in a little crevice sort of thing. After dinner we came home to it fully open and looking happy, this morning it was inside itself and once the lights came on after my shower it was fully open and looking happy. Now after lunch we came home to it pulled inside itself and looks like stringy mucous stuff around it. Is it trying to move and stuck in the hole? I'm afraid to touch it as I don't want to stress it more. Attached are some pictures I just took ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373658111.574853.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1373658125.458198.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1373658146.825839.jpg

It's starting to open again slowly, think I just jumped the gun a little cuz I'm worried about it nuking my tank or something bad happening with it. Colors nice and it's opening a little bit now. Was just worried I may have put it in a bad spot in the crevice, can it move out of there if it wants to?

I would say just let it settle in and everything will be fine. My Bubble tips look exactly the same when I feed them.

I find it very strange that he seams to like the spot I put him in, is this normal?
Iv heard LTA's like sand for their foot and he's no ware near (was in sand at the lfs)

mine has turned in on itself a few times as well. As already said, give it some time to adjust. When I moved my RBTA from one tank to the other, it roamed for a week and finally settled in the exact same spot I had originally placed it. While it was moving, I never saw it completely detach from the rocks, I think it "walked", but I didn't see it happen. One moment he was in one spot, 10 mins later a few inches away....
Looks like a nice nem though!!

Your tank looks REALLY new, way too new for a LTA imo. I followed the link in your signature and although the thread was started in 2011 I think it was, you were talking about the tank be new in April or so. I didn't read it all. Anyway, LTA are usually more finicky than the usually hardy BTA. I wouldn't put an LTA into a tank that was less than a year old, maybe longer since you started your tank with dry rock.
On the other hand, the anemone doesn't look bad yet. It will often take a few weeks for a new anemone to adjust to a new tank. Target feeding it when it is open is a good idea. Try using smaller pieces of food like mysis as I find a stressed anemone will usually spit out bigger food. |

Yea I believe I jumped the gun and was sort of talked into it, everything is really slow so it's been a very slow stocking process. The LTA looks very good tho going to target feed him shrimp and hope my ooccilaris clowns take to it. Hopefully haha
