Default Nostalgia - Past LFS Demise... Vancouver Area

Is reef keeping a hobby on the demise or gaining in popularity?
Just wondering, does anyone remember LFS of the past being:
Aquaworld on Marine Way near the Knight Street Bridge.... I recall them having great prices ( eg. Yellow Tangs: $9.99, Sebae nems: $9.99 ) and big selection on fish...I think they went under back in the early 2000's. Anyone know what happened to them? Also, how about Perky's over in New Westminster; I recall being there in around 2005 - just browsing thru the store which was fairly big. I think the advent of the internet specialized forums such as Canreef and mail order probably put a dent into the old store concept of business where they were the sole place to get your livestock. However, I am not sure if Reef Keeping is a hobby on the rise or declining which brought on their demise, especially in larger cities where people can only but smaller tanks to accommodate their smaller homes, especially in Vancouver. Any thoughts on this?

I had been shopping at Aquaworld when I first started my FOWLR tank. The owner asked me if I am interested to put $30.000 for an investment ... well, too make the story short, they closed down after 1 year. As I am in business too, I can see most of the time, before they went bankrupt they always try to get some money back, they try to sell or looking for an "investment" person. If they are making good money they never want to have another "partner" to share their money. So watch out ... for instance J&L doesn't need a "partner" even if you ask them. Actually, I liked that place, it had a spacious place to shop and good prices.

Remember Aquaworld as well, it was them who got me interested in reef tanks. Perkys is still around, they moved to Surrey, same name I believe, the New West store was too small for them.

They actually tore down the old building Perky's was in so Roger had to move (to Surrey/Delta on 120th).
