Default $3000 Fish!

Ok, it's not a saltwater fish -- but still wanted to tell you about it. Yesterday we were at a LFS seeing if there was anyone we couldn't live without. Usually, we don't even look at the freshwater stuff, but this time we glanced at some tanks near the sales counter on our way out. There they were, rather unattractive silvercolored 6" fish -- 4 of them, each in their own tank showing a cost per fish of $2500 to $3500
They are Dragonfish . . . after we picked up our jaws and came home we looked them up.

If you are interested have a look at www.dragonfish.com They are supposed to ward off evil spirits (and large bank balances) and are very prestigious in the Chinese community.

Does anyone know of someone who actually has one? Can you imagine the stress on the person doing the acclimatizing

Those are Arowanas. Big Al's sells them for $4500 ea.

The owner of SeaStar Aquariums bought 6, but 2 "got lost" in shipping. They were 3 breeding pairs worth about $18k or something like that. He's going to house them in an outdoor pond.

Riverfront aquariums in calgary almost always has one or two in stock between $25,000.00 and $35,000.00. I was talking to the manager there a year ago and the most expensive one they'd brought in was $110,000.00.
Yikes :!:

I must say they are very nice looking though, plus the live for 50 years and are quite hardy.

I was just going to mention the same thing you did Evan. Nice looking but comeon  That's a little much for a fish!

Can you imagine paying $35,000 for a fish and have it catch Ich or something and end up a floater???? I guess that would be a bad luck sign... lol
