Default Pruning Palythoa

How does one go about pruning back Palythoa without releasing toxins into the tank? I need to remove about 7 polyps from the colony, as they are encroaching on a favourite acro. Do I just remove them and then do a water change? How long do they release the toxin? Any help is appreciated.

you could try syphoning them out at the same time as you are scraping them off the rocks. i have done this and i also do it with Valonia.

if possible, take the rock out and frag it in a bowl of tank water, then get rid of the frag water
