Default multi vapor metal halide

anyone using ge's multi vapor metal halide bulb? is it the same as iwasaki?

No they have a different spectrum output, the iwasaki's are 6500k and the multi vapors are 4000k. Way to much red end of the spectrum to be of use to a reef tank. J&L has a chart. http://www.jlaquatics.com/cgi-bin/st...html&&cart_id=

Are they all the same fittings? e.g Mogul socket? I have one set of ge mh with ballast (250W) and everything, can I just change the bulb to Iwaskai? I am wondering are they all the same Mogul socket (E39 screw base).

Yes you should be able to just change the bulb.
