I've got a light Milwaukee meter that measures in LUX. Doesn't give an absolute PAR reading but is good for comparing relative light intensity. I use it to measure the light output from my fixture when it's time to change the lamps, then raise it up until I get the same reading with the new bulbs to prevent light shock. Also use it to measure relative light levels at different depths in the tank.
