In my opinion, 1 is not enough over a 4 foot SPS tank. You
might be able to get away with 1 on a 4 foot if you raise it high enough and aquascape your SPS right below it. If you raise it to high you will lose penetration.
With that being said, I would deff. go with 2 for an all out SPS tank.
There might by other opinions, but this is mine.
