I suppose this is debatable. I would say yes, but again it's just a matter of cost.

Off the top of my head, the points in favor of a one plug per hardware would be:
  • Power splitters need to be adequately sized to handle the wattage and would likely be bulky
  • Cable management may be more difficult
  • Apex plugs are labeled making it easier to trace and identify equipment
  • Independent control - May be relevant to alerts, alarms or actions
  • Potentially easier to isolate failed equipment

I don't see why the splitters wouldn't work though. You can always split them out later if the need arises. This is likely six of one and a half dozen of the other.
