Default Finally got algae under control

Hi everyone, I have been in the saltwater hobby for a year and a half now. I have a 90 gallon with sump aquarium, and have both fish and corals. Last October I suddenly got an outbreak of green hair algae. The outbreak lasted 8 months. Its really weird, the stuff went away just as fast as it came. I tried everything to battle it. I invested in a RO/DI unit and that did nothing for a very long time. Someone told me that after a while phospate levels rise to a point where they get uploaded by the live rock and that it takes months of ro/di water to leech out the phospate trapped in the rocks. That might be what took so long to get rid of the algae. who knows? I guess the reason I posted this note is to tell the new people to the hobby to just wait it out. Eventually your tank will get rid of the stuff as it matures. A lot of beneficial bacteria that wasn't there when your algae first breaks out eventually settles in and your water and tank environment will be better balanced.

Not sure if anyone out there had the same experience?
