They are really popular because a lot of New people buy them (the LFS's that don't just do SW seem to Love them!) and I admit to owning one too....and I got rid of it as soon as I could afford to upgrade. We had a remora pro for a while on the 65g... it was *ok* but not fabulous, and we're running a
vertex 180 on our 120g reef, I really like it.
