Still not getting into any aspect of the great RO vs. tapwater debate. Find another thread for that, guys :)

Yup, thought of that - the outdoor taps will not be plumbed into the water softener.

They are smaller pieces. Please look at the photo for an idea of rock size. BTW, the rock is in a 10g. There is no valonia or aptaisia on the rock.

Actually, cleaned the 10g tank just now and figure this rock is more like 5 to 5.5 lbs. Here's a quick shot of the rock in the 10g. Sorry for the poor photo which is due to no tripod and water...

Finally upgraded our 10g to 25g and have about 3.5 lbs of LR left over. A few stomatella snails come with the rock. Rock has been under lights since early December. $15.00.

I use tank water in the bucket to rinse the foams to preserve the nitrfying bacteria in the foams. RO or tapwater would kill the bacteria. I don't use socks, but would probably use the same method...
