It's a 3 footer. I didn't know there were standard 4 feet 50gal tanks. I thought the typical 4 feet dimensions makes up 55gal.

To answer your question, the tank is not on a stand. It's on a platform built into the house that's open on 3 sides. There is a small compartment built in under the tank but it's 12" x 12" x 18"...

It seems to be the trend on here to get away from mechanical filtration and just use live rocks and have tons of flow so that there is enough flow through all the cracks and holes of the live rock...
