Thanks! It is a seahorse tank. Keeping it cool lowers than chance of infections, which seahorses are susceptible to. 73-74 F is pretty common for seahorse tanks.

I do have plenty of gorgonians,...

I switched from a Tek light T-5 to a Kessel LED last year and wouldn't go back just because I hated spending money on bulbs.

API is OK for calcium. I always got reasonable values using it. My main issue was losing count of the drops! I wouldn't recommend the Seachem calcium test as the color change is hard to see (although...

It is too much light for the tank, especially since it can't be dimmed. The Kessil's put out a very strong beam of light, especially directly beneath them. I took PAR readings on my A350, while it is...

Microalgae do not require a prolonged period of darkness to "breath oxygen". Microalgae require ATP to fix CO2. They produce ATP only when illuminated, and therefore will not fix CO2 in darkness. As...

To maximize growth rate, light the phytoplankton 24/7. It does not need a period with the lights off. The phytoplankton gets its "dark" time as the cell circulates in and out of the inner parts of...
