The most basic protection you can get is a battery-operated air pump which kicks in when the juice goes out:

Not sure how thick the bottom pane is. The tank's out in the shed and it's too late to head out there with a ruler. I cannot think of what else could have caused the crack, especially with the foam...

Well, I've had the fans going full out now since Sunday and the floor and stand actually look none the worse for wear (knock on wood - or laminate in the floor's case). Everything is also passing...

Yup, the very last thing you want to be doing at 6AM on a Sunday morning is dealing with a 120 gallon tank that is BLEEDING water from apparently no where.

This is what the tank used to look like:...

That's Tunze's older line of skimmers. They are OK, but the newer 9010/15/20 line is better. I wouldn't try modding a skimmer if you're just starting out. Get something that's plug-and-play.

It's much like any other anthias fish. Good schooler, reef safe, only the male displays the funky colouration and if there are no males the most dominant female transforms into one.

About 95% of the reviews for the Tunze 9005/10/15/20 are positive, which is very good for a piece of equipment that can be as finicky as a skimmer. It's very small, efficient and requires very...

There's nobody stopping you from putting a 1000W MH on top of the 10 gallon, but the law of diminshing returns and heat issues probably dictate that 150W MHs are as much as reasonably possible.

Fish are a natural part of a coral's environment. Corals actually eat fish poo. So if there are no fish, you're cutting off a signficant part of the corals' diet.
