Be careful with them, especially with a hard to remove bit. I had one that chipped but I was lucky and found the chip right away. I'd hate to think of what it could do in a tank if it stayed lost....

I wonder if the Ich isn't present in the intestinal tracts of the fish that were exposed and or being treated for Ich. Possibly the Ich is passed out with some sort of digestive stress (fish runs)...
