What color to paint inside of hood
I did mine with a flat white bathroom paint(anti-mildew it claims on the can). It sealed nicely with two coats but I put a third on to make sure. It still looks good after a year.

PH monitor calibration.
Just wondering how often I should calibrate my pinpoint ph monitor? I've had it running 24/7 for about 6 weeks. I did a small water change tonight and put it in the fresh salt water out of curiosity....

Very nice Steve.
I'm a little curious about your actinics. Are you driving them with a workhorse 7? I'm using a wh7 to overdrive 3 no actinics(2 in series 1 by itself). The fulham website...

Red Sea Berlin in Sump Skimmer
I too converted mine to a mag 7 from the turbo pump. Recently I replaced the Redsea venturi with a Kent marine 1/2" one. Wow, what a change! I think it's actually skimming now.

Looks great Steve. Is your output off the bottom or top? Just wondering what might be more efficient. Mine outputs from the top.

Reactor online
Danny,
I think it cost around $60 - $70 to build the actual unit. I didn't really keep track. The rest of the system is where all the money is.
The pump is a Eheim. Kind of pricy but very nice....

Ok, my DIY reactor has been on line for a day. Yipee!
The only problem so far is the feed into the unit. It's designed(similar to the PM reactor) to siphon the water into it. The siphon seams to...

Titus,
Time's not a factor for me as I want to make it as a diy project(labour's cheap when you work for yourself). I am more concerned with whether it will function properly.
