You can tell the light is focused downwards just be comparing the sand up...

The radium will be much bluer on on electronic ballast vs a magnetic hqi. Very nice looking bulb but I don't think at it's bluest it will look like 6 blue+ bulbs! That must have been one BLUE tank.

Besides some extra cost what disadvantage would a gate valve possibly have? I use them on my herbie and on each outlet on my manifold. Love the control they allow over a ball valve.
