First time with acrylic. Not hard at all!
Well I went to my LFS (big als) and looked at their overflow made of acrylic and looked like great quality but was $180.00 :eek: , and that was with out the bulk head fitting.

yes t8 ballast's will fire t12 bulbs but the t8's are brighter bulbs/ more efficient.

sorry did not realize it would br 24" long. You HAVE to use electronic ballasts
you can buy them to light 2 bulbs and 4 bulbs in normal set up.
if you overdrive 4 X than you are using a ballst ment...

Hi Alan.
Well if you are planning on using 48" tubes than you have two options.
If you wire 1 bulb per ballast (ment for 4 bulbs) than you will get ~80w per bulb.
If you wire 2 bulbs per ballast...

If you are using straight calgary water you will be adding some calcium and buffer to your tank. The problem arises when you have any stony coral because they soak up the calcium and alk very fast....

So I have been informed by Tony's contact in Edmonton that we can order pickling lime (aka kalk,calcium hydroxide) from MRS. WAGES in the US.
It is listed as $1.83 per bag(454g or 1lb) on their web...
