Fuge placement inside sump
 

I've got my sump all torn down, and i'm awaiting the rebuild. But I was thinking it over yesterday, and I'm not sure that this fuge is best where I initially had it. My return pump is a Mag24 (2400 GPH). THe setup that I currently have, is the filter socks, then fuge, then return section. I think that the fuge will not benefit from such high flow levels through my sump. So I'm thinking of making the fuge on the far right, in a seperate section, fed by my manifold. This way I can tune down the flow with a ball valve from my manifold. Any Ideas?

yeah that would be far too much flow through a fuge I think. Manifold is how I've done that.

Spotted those eh? hahaha. I got 2 for the sump side and one for the water storage side.

I like it better on the right as well. You could also just feed the frag tank overflow into the fuge since that probably won't be much flow, it would simplify things a little and cut back on return pump demand, no filter sock though.

In the first option, put a lid on the 2 refugium baffles. Drill a couple of holes in the lid. That should keep the water inside the refugium nice and calm. Water in the refugium would then be exchanged with the water in the sump by diffusion.

Yeah that would work well!! I think I'm going to do that instead. You think that Micro Bubbles would be an issue coming from the frag tank drain?

Shouldn't be any bubbles from a herbie. You could also move the overflow in the frag tank to the other side if you haven't drilled it yet.
