Been healthy and lively for about six months and then suddenly today it looks like this. Any thoughts?

It had three heads on it and it looked like one was going to split - the one that still has some green to it. But now, that head has retracted and the other two have this bubble like cocoon around it.

Can you get better pictures by any chance?

Not 100% sure about the bubbling, but ones is receding by the looks of it, you can see the skeleton so that's not usually a good sign.

What are your parameters?

Take it out and smell it.. Looks like its rotting to me. If it were mine I'm afraid I would toss it.

It's gone. Brown jelly disease.

Coasting 11-14-2012 05:03 AM

If you can simply break off that left head thats totally jelly-ized do so, otherwise pull the thing out, grab a new toothbrush and scrub out all the dead brown tissue. Then gently if you can in a little cup of tank water, clean around the edges of the one thats still green.
The brown jelly will continue to spread if its there, but sometimes if you get rid of the nasty part, the part thats still somewhat alive may still be able to be saved.
When youre done put it in a low flow lower light spot away from other coral to see how it does.

Better to throw it out than trying to save it, as it might spread to your other corals. The chance that it might be saved is probably less than 5%

Thanks, all. Out it came and hoping it doesn't spread. Cheers!
