LF SW feeder shrimp

Was just wondering if anyone knows where I could get some of these?

intarsiabox 09-28-2012 02:15 AM

Are you talking large shrimp?

Travis 09-28-2012 02:16 AM

Mhm how big ?

intarsiabox 09-28-2012 02:26 AM

I'm just wondering if your talking about brine or mysis or if you are looking for larger shrimp to feed something such as a lionfish. I've just never heard someone refer to "feeder shrimp" so just curious if your are looking for a specific type of shrimp.

Travis 09-28-2012 02:31 AM

Yeah for a frogfish some call em ghost shrimp or glass shrimp

intarsiabox 09-28-2012 02:40 AM

I've seen them at place's like Big Al's and PJ's pets. You could set up a small tank, buy a few and raise them yourself. There's not a lot of "healthy" and cheap options that I can think of. People breed molly's as feeder fish as they can be accustomed to live in salt water but how good they are for marine species as a diet has come into question. I am assuming you are looking for live foods so you can see the frog fish in action.

Yea I just want to have some live food on hand just incase he won't take to frozen I would it eat frozen but can't force him

If he doesn't take frozen right away you may be able to coax him into it by dangling silversides near him with feeding tongs.

Petsmart is the best price at $0.99 a piece for ghost shrimp, just don't tell them they are food as sometimes the staff can be overly sensitive. They seem to sell out quick though so you might want to phone around.

I use cherry shrimp, easy to breed and low maintenance
